Meeker delivers State of the City

RALEIGH

Mayor Charles Meeker delivered the State of the City address in the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts.

He told the audience the city is saving more than $200,000 per year in energy costs thanks to a partnership with Cree.

Meeker said the city's relationship with Cree, and NC State's college of design, vet school, and the Centennial Campus are part of what's held Raleigh's "world-class status."

The mayor also told the crowd, going forward, the city needs to improve affordable housing, transportation and greenway projects.
