According to investigators, Kimani Wright, Senior Pastor of Haymount Presbyterian Church, came home around 9:30 a.m. to find the back door broken in at his home on Worley Street in the Hillendale North subdivision.
Wright came inside and called 911.
About then, he heard a noise upstairs and saw a man walking down his stairs carrying his shotgun.
Police said Wright began firing at the man with a 9mm pistol. The alleged burglar was not hit and did not return fire.
"He came at me, so I fired shots. He had my shotgun in his hands," Wright told ABC11.
Police were outside the home when the prowler came running out the front door. He hopped a fence and took off.
Police were using tracking dogs to try and locate him. Officers said the suspect dropped the shotgun, but they didn't know if he was armed in any other way.
