A crash following a police chase through Raleigh caused some delays near downtown Thursday morning.Police blocked off all northbound lanes of South Saunders Street at Pecan Street after a driver crashed into a utility pole near an I-40 ramp next to a Sam's Club store when an officer tried to stop him.
The driver ran from the crash scene and was caught a short time later around 5 a.m. The man was taken by EMS to WakeMed with unknown injuries.
Traffic has to be detoured from S. Saunders to Pecan streets and onto Wilmington Street, but by 6:30 a.m., authorities reopened all the northbound lanes.
