Police: Bank robber flees in beat-up car

DURHAM It happened Monday morning at the SunTrust Bank on Erwin Road.

Authorities say a man armed with what appeared to be a gun entered the bank around 10 a.m. and demanded money. He then fled in a beat-up, dark-colored car driven by another man.

The suspect who entered the bank is described as an African American man wearing a long black wig, baggy jeans and a dark blue and black shirt. A description of the man in the car has not been released.

Bankers' Association hotline at (800) 209-2293. CrimeStoppers is offering a cash reward and the North Carolina Bankers' Association is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.
