Raleigh man faces robbery charges in Raleigh, Cary

RALEIGH

The warrants charge 22-year-old Steven Michael Abbott with robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with Thursday morning's BB&T robbery.

It happened just before 9:30 am at the branch located at 4409 Creedmoor Road. The suspect's picture and vehicle were captured by surveillance cameras.

Police say the suspect implied he had a weapon and demanded money. He fled the scene in a white SUV.

The second warrant charges Abbot with robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with a robbery Wednesday at the Rite Aid store on Edwards Mill Road. During that incident, the suspect announced the robbery and displayed a weapon but fled the store before receiving cash.

Police detained Abbot Thursday afternoon at an apartment near the BB&T. An officer was patrolling the area shortly after the bank robbery and spotted a vehicle in the apartment complex's parking lot that matched the description of the vehicles used in both crimes.

Further investigation linked the SUV to the apartment where police located Abbot.

On Friday, Cary police annouced additonal charges against Abbot, including the robbery of an Extended Stay Hotel and a CVS.
