It happened around 9:30 p.m. on McLemore Rd. That's east of I-40 and north of Highway 210.
Pictures from the scene showed a pickup truck off on the shoulder of the road and a Jeep flipped on its side. Troopers said the vehicles hit head-on.
John Chris Johnson Jr., 63, and Annette Evans Johnson, 66, were killed in one vehicle. Carl Gene Overmier, 44, died in the other.
