Man wanted in two murders captured

HALIFAX, NC

Edwards was arrested in a hotel parking lot by officers from the Rocky Mount Police Department, the Roanoke Rapids Police Department, and the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday.

Authorities in Northampton, Halifax and Nash counties had all been searching for him.

Halifax Sheriff's Department Captain L.J. Burch said Edwards - of Weldon, NC - was behind a month's long crime spree.

He's now charged in the murder of Brandon Tyrone Peterson September 18 and the murder of Lorenzo Tann Jr. September 21.

He's also charged with breaking and entering, a larceny, and possession of stolen goods that occurred on September 15 in Roanoke Rapids.

And, he's charged with felony possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine in Weldon.

He's currently being held without bond.

"I am proud of the efforts displayed by all of the officers that assisted in the efforts to get this murder suspect into custody. Because of their dedication and countless hours put in on these efforts, we were able to get this man in custody without anyone else getting hurt. I am proud to serve with these officers," said Burch.
