Dance teacher faces child porn charges

LOUISBURG, NC

A spokesperson with the N.C. Department of Justice said Bruce Anthony Howard was arrested by SBI agents working with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force Thursday.

The NCDOJ said the arrest is part of Operation Spyglass - a statewide crackdown on the distribution of online child pornography announced by Attorney General Roy Cooper Thursday.

Investigators are using new technology to track people who download images of child sexual exploitation.

Investigators say they tracked such computer transactions to Howard’s home at 68 White Pines Mobile Home Park in Louisburg and got a search warrant to seize his computer on October 12.

The examination of that computer allegedly shows Howard collected images of child sexual abuse since at least 2008.

They also identified a child that Howard allegedly solicited to produce child pornography.

Howard is charged with 10 counts of second-degree child sexual exploitation and one count of first-degree child sexual exploitation.

Investigators said Howard has been employed as an instructor at several local dance studios.
