Man struck, killed by train in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.

Fayetteville police said around 1:18 p.m. on Thursday an Amtrak train heading northeast near the Owen Drive overpass struck a man who was on the tracks.

The man was later identified as 46-year-old Baxter Neal Graham, Jr.

Authorities said they are still investigating the incident.

Amtrak spokeswoman Vernae Graham, (no known relation to the victim) said the train was heading from Savannah, Ga., to New York when it struck the man.

Vernae Graham said none of the passengers or crew was hurt.

She said the train was stopped nearly two hours while an investigation was conducted.
