Lincolnton family gets new home

LINCOLNTON, N.C.

A North Carolina family will be featured on ABC's Extreme Home Makeover.

Previously, the show built homes in Raleigh and Fayetteville, but now James and Devonda Friday, of Lincolnton have been chosen as the recipients of the new home.

The Fridays were selected because of their dedication to helping children in foster care find permanent homes.

Over the years, the family has taken in more than 30 children. They recently adopted five siblings at once to keep brothers and sisters from being split up.

Right now, the children at the Fridays' home range from ages 6 to 15.

That is in addition to the daughter they have, who is currently a student at Shaw University.

While the Extreme Home Makeover team was in Lincolnton, they also built the Friday's neighborhood a new resource center.

Even though ABC announced earlier this week that the Extreme Home Makeover series is being canceled, the Fridays will be part of a two-hour special to air next December.
