Detectives charged George Wells Jr., 23, of Fayetteville, with first degree murder Thursday in connection with the Nov. 28 murder.
Police say they responded to a shooting call just after midnight Nov. 29 on Italy Street near Cheer Lane. When they arrived they found Patterson dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
Another arrest was made earlier this month in connection with the homicide. Daquane Israel, 21, was arrested in Charlotte Dec. 13 He is charged with first degree murder and discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling.
