The State Highway Patrol said 71-year-old James Henry Smith, of Benson, was going north on Woods Crossroads Road, when he went to the right, overcorrected and his pickup truck flipped before crashing into the power pole.
Smith was ejected. It is believed he suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Troopers say Smith had a medical cancellation on his license which means he should not have been driving.
Right now, it is unknown if he will face charges.
Progress Energy crews are trying to replace the pole.
