Wayne County school official facing charges

WAYNE COUNTY

Authorities arrested 61-year-old Donald Sprunt Hill of Mount Olive on charges that he allegedly unlawfully accepted gifts and/or favors from contractors or suppliers while he was an Assistant Superintendent of Auxiliary Services with the school system.

The incidents reportedly happened between July 2007 and June 2009.

Officials with Wayne County Public Schools said the school system hired Hill in 1977. They said he served as a teacher, an assistant principal, and a principal, before being promoted to assistant superintendent in 2000.

Hill was placed on administrative leave in December 2009 and later retired in March 2010.

Further details about the charges have not been released.

Hill is scheduled to appear in court April 30.
