15-year-old shot Monday in Smithfield

SMITHFIELD, N.C. (WTVD) -- A 15-year-old boy was shot early Monday morning in Smithfield.

Smithfield Police Department said the shooting happened around 6 a.m. near Furlong Drive and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

The teen was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators have not released any details about a motive or possible suspect in the shooting.
