GODWIN, N.C. (WTVD) -- A driver is being treated for injuries after being trapped inside an SUV after a collision in Cumberland County.
The accident happened Friday after 9 p.m. The Godwin-Falon Fire Rescue and Wade Community Fire Department responded to the intersection of U.S. Highway 301 and NC Highway 82 for a vehicle crash and found the driver of one vehicle pinned inside. Investigators said a Toyota Rav-4 and Dodge Durango had collided at the intersection causing the Rav-4 to overturn in a ditch.
According to authorities, the windshield of the SUV had to be removed to free the driver who first responders say was not seriously injured.
The two people inside the Durango were sent to Cape Fear Valley Hospital. Their conditions have not been released.
North Carolina Department of Transportation has been urged for years to revamp this intersection for safety reasons.
