GREENSBORO, N.C. (WTVD) -- Tuesday was a special day for former ABC11 anchor Larry Stogner.
Larry got the chance to visit with a close friend and former ABC11 intern, ABC News anchor Byron Pitts.
Born in Baltimore, but raised in Apex, Pitts returned home to speak to the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters.
While the standing-room only crowd focused on the accomplished international journalist, Pitts focused on his mentor, friend, and father-figure, Larry.
"He gives his best. He's an honorable man. Seeing him today, he's the same Larry Stogner I saw in Iraq. Same Larry Stogner I saw on the runway in Haiti," Pitts said.
Since Larry's announcement that he's living with ALS, he's been on a public crusade to fight the disease.
And, just as Pitts did as an intern, he's still watching, observing, and learning from Larry.
"Every moment that you have, maximize it. And also, be of service to other people," Pitts said. "If I've had any measure of success in this business, it's due in great part to Larry Stogner."
