For this one, we're in the kitchen trying a new gadget that cooks your breakfast at the same time. It's called an Egg and Muffin Toaster. It's an all in one appliance that claims to cook eggs and meat, and toast muffins, bagels, or breads to perfection. It's all done at the same time but does it work?
First we just make a hardboiled egg, you can boil up to four. You just follow the instructions, which start with selecting your cooking consistency of hard, medium or soft. Then you add the proper amount of water, place the egg in the steamer tray, put the lid on top, press the egg button and let it cook. It will take about 10 minutes and when it's done, the egg light will automatically turn off. Be careful when you grab the lid and steamer tray, as they're hot. Take the egg out and run it under cold water. As for the finished product, it looks like a perfect egg.
So it hard boils an egg, how about the perfect breakfast sandwich? We start by putting the English Muffin in the toasting slots, and select the level of darkness by adjusting the lever. Now onto the egg, first we add water to the heating tray, break the egg into the poaching tray. Then break the yolk and put your meat of choice on the warming tray and place on top of the steamer and poaching trays. Put on the lid and push the egg-toast button. The egg button will illuminate and the toast button will begin to flash when the egg's just about done. The toaster kicks on and the English Muffin and ham are done at the same time as the egg. Five minutes later, it's all done, and the lights shut off and it's time to dig in.
If you're just in the mood for small snack, this toaster also does that. You can just toast bread or within minutes of cracking the egg we had this perfect fried egg. So we give the Egg and Muffin Toaster a thumbs up. It's available at a number of stores and costs about $40.00. It may take you a few tries to get your egg just the way you like it. As for the clean-up, it's not bad, and you can put the trays in the dishwasher. One suggestion, make sure you use cooking spray in the egg tray as it will stick without it.
