Authorities say a gasoline tanker spilled 6,000 gallons of fuel and pinned its driver when the truck overturned in Wilson County.

The Wilson Daily Times reported Wednesday that the wreck occurred about 2:30 a.m. on U.S. 301 north of Kenly. The driver was trapped inside the cab for about an hour and was taken to Pitt County Memorial Hospital. His name and condition haven't been released.

The cause of the accident hasn't been determined. No other vehicles were involved.

County emergency official Gordon Deno said the cleanup would take days. State water quality experts were called to the scene to determine if gasoline spread into a nearby creek.
