City forces Raleigh day care to move

RALEIGH

New Bern Avenue Day Care fought to stay open after the city discovered the problems and was ready to shut it down. Public outcry kept it open.

Tuesday, city leaders decided to give the day care five more months in its current location before they have to leave. The owner says she is happy with the city's decision and is ready to move on.

"It's all a new beginning for New Bern Avenue Day Care. You know, and the thing that the city of Raleigh cannot take away from New Bern Avenue is the heart and soul," day care owner Alyssa Strayhorn said.

The day care is planning to move into a new building about ten miles away near Rogers Lane and Highway 64.
