Last hope for stranded choir

DURHAM

The /*Riverside High School Choir*/ planned to leave for Chicago Friday afternoon, but not only did their /*flight*/ get canceled, but they hit another sour note as they gather at school.

The choir was supposed to take an American Airlines flight for a performance.

"It's a big deal cause only two schools are going from North Carolina," junior Tara Shock said.

Choir teacher Jill Boliek said the group found out the flight was canceled Thursday, so the group booked a charter /*bus*/.

At 8:30 a.m. Friday, 34 students and their chaperones waited with pillows and blankets -- ready to take a 15-hour tour ride on the only charter bus they found available.

But after some impromptu practice and a lot of waiting, there was another blow to their $900/person trip.

The bus company thought the group needed the bus for Saturday, not Friday and did not show up. In fact, the company did not have any buses available Friday.

So after one canceled flight, one bus no-show, the group went home. They're going to try again for a bus Saturday morning at 9 a.m. They hope to be in /*Chicago*/ by midnight.
