Hubbard allegedly broke into the shed in the 9400 block of Hillsboro Street in Linden and began swinging a tire tool, striking 51-year-old Michael Crosby in the head.
Crosby's brother, 55-year-old Joseph, then helped him secure Hubbard, who died while being subdued.
Michael Crosby was treated at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for head injuries.
So far, no charges have been filed. The investigation is ongoing. The evidence collected in the case will be turned over to the District Attorney, who will decide if any charges should be brought.
