The U.S. Supreme Court remanded his case for reconsideration in 1990. At a new trial in 1996, a jury again sentenced McNeil to death for each of the two murders.
Death row inmate dies of natural causes
RALEIGH McNeil, 68, was convicted in Wake County for the April 1983 murders of Deborah Jean Fore and Elizabeth Faye Stallings.
