School bus #187 was involved in an accident at 6:18 a.m. at the intersection of US 64 and Smithfield Road.
It is believed there were no students on the bus at the time of the crash, said Wake County Schools spokesperson Michael Evans, who was working to confirm that information shortly before 7 a.m.
Chopper 11 flew over the scene immediately after the accident; pictures from the air show at least a half dozen police vehicles and a couple of ambulances in the area and police directing traffic.
