Man charged with statutory rape

FAYETTEVILLE Jose Socorro Jaimes-Morales, 22, is charged with having sex with a 14-year-old girl. Investigators say the suspect became sexually involved with the girl between August and November.

Jaimes-Morales is charged with two counts of statutory rape, eight counts statutory sex offense and two counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor.

He was placed in the Cumberland County Detention Center Monday, under a $1 million bond.

His first court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Detention Center Courtroom.
