President visits NC

GREENSBORO The President wanted to highlight the work of a program in which mentors worth with the children of people who are in prison. Bush spoke of the Mentoring Children of Prisoners program during his 2003 State of the Union address.

The program provides grants and support to local nonprofits that recruit and match at-risk children with mentors.

While in Greensboro, the President also presented the President's Volunteer Service Award to Donna Turner of High Point. She has volunteered more than 25,000 hours with Hospice of the Piedmont over the past 25 years.
