Money stolen from firefighters

Nash County deputies say a volunteer fire department treasurer took more than $100,000 from Coopers Volunteer Fire and Rescue.Detectives say the missing money was discovered in a financial review by accountants.

Treasurer David Lowell Joyner Jr. is charged with embezzlement and corporate malfeasance.

Investigators say the exact amount Joyner took is still unknown, but it's more than $100,000. He apparently make up fake invoices and then wrote bogus checks.
