When police arrived, the victim --identified as Corey Fullwood, was lying in the roadway. The vehicle that struck him had fled the scene.
Fullwood was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Police say witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a silver SUV or minivan.
