Soldier killed in parachute accident

FORT BRAGG It happened during a training exercise at the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center at the Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona.

The student was working in a jumpmaster training course at the school's Military Freefall School when investigators say he injured his head during a landing. The soldier was taken by air ambulance to St. Josephs Hospital in Phoenix, where he was pronounced dead.

The Military Freefall School has suspended all air operations until further notice. The investigation continues. Army officials have not released the man's name or hometown.
