Shooting victim seeks help in library

DURHAM The incident happened around 8:20 p.m. at the intersection of Queen Street and Liberty Street.

When officers arrived they found a man lying on the floor inside the library with a gunshot wound in his back.

The man, whose name is not being released at this time, was transported to Duke Hospital in critical condition.

Further information about the incident is not available.

The library was shut down because of the incident. It announced to patrons that it was "shutting down for unforeseen circumstances."

Police are searching for a suspect and a motive for the shooting.
