Members of the 449th Theater Aviation Brigade deployed to Iraq in September 2008. The unit is trained to handle security, air assault and other service support missions.
The 449th flew more than 50,000 accident free combat hours in Iraq.
Tuesday's ceremony included members of the NC National Guard Leadership, civic leaders, family and friends.
