DWI doctor in rehab

RALEIGH The prosecutor and Raymond Cook's attorney told the judge Cook is in an out-of-state alcohol treatment. The court will review the case again next month.

Cook's trip to rehab was approved by the DA's office. Officials tell Eyewitness News that if a judge were to call Cook back to court, he would be required to appear immediately. His attorney says he would.

Last month, Cook said he would voluntarily enter an alcohol treatment center. That was days after Elena Shapiro died. Police say Cook's car hit her car on Sept. 11 as she drove on Strickland Road in Raleigh.

Investigators say Cook was traveling 80 mph and was drunk at the time of the collision.

Shapiro was a 20-year-old dancer with the Carolina Ballet.
