Tar truck overturns on Hwy 55

APEX The spill caused delays on southbound Highway 55 in Apex near US 1. Two of three lanes were closed just after 7 a.m. Also, lanes were blocked just before the US 1 interchange.

The truck, which is from B&B Paving in Raleigh, overturned around 6:45 a.m. Tar spilled on the road and in the woods.

It is not clear how long it will take to clean up the tar.

Motorists should use Ten Ten road as an alternate.
