Cary man has 7 days to remove sign

CARY A news release from the town Thursday said David Bowden of 305 SW Maynard Road has been issued a formal notice of violation of the community's standards for signage ordinance - meaning he has seven days to remove the "Screwed by the Town of Cary" message spray painted on the side of his house.

Since August, David Bowden has fought City Hall not with a lawyer, but with orange paint. This month, he even put out a spotlight for people to see the sign after dusk.

Bowden claims a street expansion on Maynard Road has flooded his home. He says the town built him a new steep driveway that's funneling water into his basement and he wants Cary to buy the property.

Cary leaders say they've tried to work with Bowden, but he has refused to participate in third-party mediation to resolve the conflict. Now, it's decided to go ahead with enforcement efforts.
