Man shot, killed by deputies

WAKE COUNTY

It happened just south of the Little River bridge on Green Pace Road. That's near Highway 64 in the Wendell area.

It began with an investigation into a burglary before dawn at a convenience store on Marshburn Road in Wendell.

Later in the morning, deputies got a call about two suspicious men in the area and tried to capture them. They chased the two men into a wooded area behind a mobile home.

What happened next is unclear. Shots were fired. One man was killed by the gunfire. Police later identified him as 25-year-old Cornelius Pierre Harrison.

The second suspect, 24-year-old Byron Lendell Williams, was bitten by a police dog and Deputy Brad Manville has a broken hand.

Deputy Manville and his K-9 partner Jagger have been with the sheriff's office for three years.

Meanwhile, the sheriff's office has located a third suspect, 36-year-old Jonathan Edward Carr.

He is charged with being an accomplice to the break-in.
