Investigators say 27-year old Tronyale Daniel was involved in an altercation with two males and a female in the 1200 block of Parham Street.
One of the men, 18-year-old Dewayne Avent, allegedly shot Daniel in the chest.
He died at the hospital several hours later.
Police say they have first-degree murder warrants for Avent and are looking for him. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Rocky Mount police at (252) 977-1111.
