Officers said they approached 21-year-old Justin Dovone Bell as he sat in a car outside a First Citizens Bank on Kildaire Farm Road around 10:30 p.m. Sunday night. They said Bell gave them a false name.
While officers were checking his name, they said Bell ran off on foot - leaving his 6-month-old child in the car. The baby is okay and was returned to its mother.
Bell had outstanding arrest warrants for failing to appear in court. He now faces additional charges of child abuse and resisting. Bell had been on probation for 2009 convictions for drugs, breaking and entering, and driving with a revoked license.
Raleigh police say they found Bell at a relative's house early Tuesday. He was taken to the Wake County jail.
