Woman pleads guilty in missing child hoax

RALEIGH

Authorities say Rosnah Hassan Thomason called 911 in May 2008. She told operators someone took her son, Siraj Davenport, at a Smithfield area flea market.

An Amber Alert was issued and volunteers and law enforcement officers fanned out across the community to search for the boy.

But as it turned out, investigators said the 3-year-old boy was not named Siraj and he was not Thomason' son. The child is her nephew and he was not in the country when Thomason called 911.

FBI agents talked to Thomason's brother a day after the 911 call. He says his sister refused to return the boy after a visit and that he only got the child back after threatening to call police.

Thomason has not yet been sentenced.
