Silver Alert canceled for missing 11-year-old girl

The N.C. Center for Missing Persons has canceled a Silver Alert at the request of the Durham County Sheriff's Office, after an 11-year-old girl went missing.

Officials say Kayla Brown returned to her home on her own Saturday morning.

An alert was issued by authorities because it was believed that Brown may be be suffering from some type of cognitive impairment.

Authorities said they believed she was on her way to the Durham School of the Arts at 401 N. Duke Street in Durham.

She was last seen getting onto a school bus at the intersection of Genesse and Bramble.
