The burglaries and assault happened this past December in Fort Bragg's Ste. Mere Eglise neighborhood. Investigators said the assault took place during one of the burglaries.
Pernell, 22, is an indirect fire infantryman assigned to 1st Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment. He's from Oklahoma.
The soldier also faces charges in civilian court for two more alleged rapes in Hoke County and Fayetteville.
