The new title means Hargens will have a more permanent title, as the school board continues its search for the next superintendent.
Board member John Tedesco says she will continue to serve as Chief Academic Officer and will have some of her staffers to assist her with those duties. He also says she is one of the candidates they're looking at for the permanent position.
In February, Burns abruptly announced his intention to resign on June 30. -- a few years before his contract expires. He said he could not in good conscience carry out the policies the new majority of the school board wants to implement - like ending the long standing diversity policy.
