Police say a Mazda, driven by 55-year-old Gertrude Carroll of Salemburg, NC, struck Pier on April 18 as he attempted to cross Cedar Creek Raod. Pier was taken to the hospital but died from his injuries.
Carroll was not injured and no charged have been filed against her. The incident remains under investigation.
