Memorial held for students killed in crash

HOKE COUNTY The two high school seniors were killed in a wreck at a Fayetteville intersection. Police say neither boy was wearing a seatbelt.

"It's just horrible," Classmate Patrick Harris said. "I mean it's hard to imagine, I just can't describe it."

Friends and classmates gathered to honor Thaddis Markle and Kaleb Valliant in the Hoke County High School gymnasium where both boys were students.

The bleachers and chairs on the floor were all filled. Those in attendance prayed, cried and laughed as they remembered the good times and cherished moments they'll never forget.

"Both of them together, they were hilarious they could always make you smile no matter what kind of mood you were in," friend Thomas Reed said.

"It had an impact on everybody, Mr. Baldwin our principal even said he never wore a seat belt, but now he does," Harris said.

A Facebook memorial page has been created in the students' memories.
