Suspect named in Cary murder

CARY

They've charged Kenneth Lamont Taylor, 33, of Durham in the April 10 murder of Jibrael Menelik. Police found the Apex resident wounded in a breezeway at an apartment complex on Pony Club Circle in northwestern Cary after getting calls about gunshots.

Menelik was rushed to Duke University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives say Taylor is approximately 5’7” tall and weighs 155 lbs. He's believed to have connections in New Jersey and New York, and officers say he should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

"We have been working around the clock with local, state and federal officials to locate him,” said Town of Cary Police Chief Pat Bazemore. “We look forward to bringing resolution to this case, our community and, most importantly, Jibrael’s family.”

Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call their local law enforcement office, the Town of Cary Police Department at (919) 469-4012 or report anonymously with Cary Crime Stoppers at (919) 226-CRIM(E).
