Players injured at football jamboree

DURHAM Wakefield High School linebacker Matt Anderson was on the field for 20 minutes with a neck injury before an ambulance took him to the hospital.

Early worries were it was a spinal injury, but his coach said it was actually just a concussion.

Another Wakefield wolverine, Jake Lenox, was injured when he broke his leg. He was also taken to the hospital.

And a player from Winston-Salem's Parkland High School was also injured. He suffered a back injury and was taken to the hospital.

Four Duke doctors were on hand to check out the players right away. The players' injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

The Wakefield team continued their scrimmage Friday evening.

A total of 13 high school teams are taking part in the jamboree.
