Two arrested in fatal shooting

DURHAM It happened in the 2900 block of Chapel Hill Road around 10:20 p.m. on Saturday. Officers arrived on the scene and found two males who had been shot.

Authorities say one male was pronounced dead at the scene and the second male was transported to Duke University Hospital for treatment.

Witnesses told officers that the suspects fled in a red Toyota RAV4. A few minutes' later officers stopped a red RAV4 occupied by three males in the 2500 block of South Roxboro Street. Two males – Deandre Roosevelt Rucker, 18, of Nebo Street and a 15-year-old juvenile – were arrested.

Police are still searching for the third male who fled from the scene.

Rucker is charged with murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon. He has been placed in Durham County Jail without bond. The juvenile was placed in the Durham County Youth Home.
