NC groups to join national jobs march

RALEIGH

The groups, led by the state chapters of the NAACP and the AFL-CIO, are participating in two events Tuesday to boost interest in a rally at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 2.

A news conference in Raleigh this afternoon is scheduled to be followed by a 7 p.m. prayer meeting at Binkley Baptist Church in Chapel Hill.

The national march will call on Congress to do more to help ease the country's jobless rate, which is just below 10 percent.
