Arrest made in Raleigh quadruple shooting

RALEIGH

They've charged Martin Perez Bottello, 24, of North Spring Garden Circle with one count of murder and three counts of attempted murder. He was taken to the Wake County jail.

The shooting happened around 9 p.m. Monday night at Crabtree Boulevard and North Raleigh Boulevard - near Capital Boulevard.

When officers arrived at the scene Monday night, they discovered four victims.

Francisco Aurelio Kelly, 18, of Rocky Mount, was pronounced dead at the scene. A records check shows that Kelly was on probation in Rocky Mount after convictions on six separate breaking and entering charges and should not been in Raleigh at all.

Police said three juveniles - a 15-year-old boy, a 15-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl - were taken to WakeMed with gunshot wounds that were not life-threatening.

All were found near a SUV.

Authorities have not released a motive for the shooting, but police say it was not random.

Brittany Bennett, who lives in the area, says she heard several gunshots.

"Pop, pop, pop [is] the only thing I heard, about 5 or 6 times," she explained.

Bennett has lived in the neighborhood for most of her life.

"It's sad," she added. "The neighborhood, it seems like it's going down."

Others residents agree that criminal activity in the neighborhood seems to have increased.

"It's just gonna be on my mind. It's kind of frightening," resident Jeff Hinton said after learning about what happened. "Kind of makes you think about where you're living."
