Officers received a call around 3:14 a.m. about a breaking and entering in progress at a home on North Audobon Avenue. According to dispatchers, a man was carrying a black bag, a flashlight and was seen coming from under a home.
The witness, who reported the incident, followed the suspect while calling 911.
After a short investigation, officers arrested Maurice Nathaniel Wilder. Police say he was covered in dirt.
It is not clear if the homeowner was at home during the break-in.
Wilder is charged with second-degree burglary, larceny and first-degree trespassing. He is being held in the Wayne County Jail under a $30,500 bond.
