The vehicles hit head-on with such force, one actually overturned.
According to Eastern Wake Fire/Rescue crews, two adults and a child had to be rescued from the vehicles, and were sent to the hospital with traumatic injuries.
There is no word on their exact condition - or if speed or alcohol played a role in the crash.
The State Highway Patrol is investigating.
