A wake will be held tonight for Blake Mitchell. His funeral is planned for Tuesday at Durham's Saint Matthew Catholic Church.
Mitchell's father, Joe Mitchell, is charged with the child's death and two counts of attempted murder. Joe Mitchell allegedly smothered his youngest son and attempted to murder his older children.
Instead of the Durham County Jail, Mitchell will stay at Raleigh's Central Prison because of concern over his attempted suicide and public outrage over the case.
He is being held without bond. ABC11 Eyewitness News learned he has hired a lawyer.
Blake's siblings attend Voyage Academy in Durham. The school has established a memorial fund for Blake to help pay for funeral expenses.
